Hulu Canceled Alex Cooper’s ‘Love Overboard.’ An Investor Says the Decision Exposes 1 Risk for Celebrity-Founded Brands
The decision to cancel the show follows the news that the podcast host’s beverage company will shut down after its next release.
On Monday, several reports confirmed that Hulu had axed Love Overboard, a dating reality series spearheaded by Alex Cooper’s Unwell Productions. The decision comes on the heels of a headline-filled summer for Cooper.
In August, Unwell secured a $500 million valuation following an investment from entertainment executive Patrick Whitesell’s WTSL for an undisclosed amount. Soon after, news broke that Cooper’s Unwell Hydration would wind down production after the release of its Halloween-related line.
Now, it appears another Cooper-related project has met a similar fate.

In the wake of the news, Alix Earle, one of Unwell’s former podcast stars, took the opportunity to comment on the change.
During a red-carpet interview with Entertainment Tonight, Earle was asked how she felt to finally address the drama between Cooper and herself on her new Netflix reality show Earle Meets World.
“I’m happy that I said my piece, but I’m happier just to, like, focus on the premiere and having the show out there, and you know, hers are getting cancelled so, it is what it is,” Earle said.
